Ben,

Based on your post it sounds like you are interested in obtaining monopoly protections for your undeveloped ideas. You could then use those protections to limit access to these ideas by others who you do not deem as worthy for one reason or another. In addition, it sounds like you are also interested in developing a permission system for those who do learn of your ideas that will require your approval before others are allowed to further develop those ideas into real inventions.

Monopoly protections for ideas is a very dangerous concept. It is probably best that you keep these ideas for inventions to yourself if you really are serious about developing them further. If you don’t think you will ever develop these ideas on your own but are willing to divulge these ideas to another person, you can have this person sign a non disclosure agreement. If no one is willing to sign a non disclosure agreement to hear your ideas or you would just like to give away your ideas to the world you can publish a detailed description of these ideas embodied in a process, machine, article of manufacture or a composition of matter. By publishing detailed descriptions of your ideas, you will create something called prior art. This will prevent others from patenting these same ideas because the ideas will no longer be novel or non-obvious.

I have had a lot of ideas for inventions over the years and want to share them with people, but a) don't want greedy corporations to get their hands on them and b) don't want to be corrupted by them myself and c) generally don't want anyone else be able to exploit them without my permission that is, especially if i don't exploit them cause then i'll feel like a twat, but i still want other people to be able build them and modify them an stuff and try them out for themselves. What are the chances of having a Creative Commons Patent?
