Hello,

I assume you're familiar with the CC-friendly record label, Magnatune:

http://magnatune.com/

They offer free MP3s of all their albums under a Creative Commons license and you can buy CD-quality WAV files.

Practical question: Are the WAV files automatically under the same CC license?

The two downloads are the same album and only differ in the quality and the format. I think this is an interesting question, and I hope someone has an answer. You can think of other cases where the same question might arise.

Another example, say I write a user guide for OpenOffice.org. I give you the guide in PDF format under a CC license, and if you like it I'll sell you the editable version (OpenDocument format) for $2. Is the editable version automatically under the same CC license?

Another example, can I say that I'll give you the user guide (above) as a PDF file under the CC-BY-NC or as an ODF file under CC-BY-SA? (notice, two imcompatible licenses).

Cheers,
Daniel.
