Life+50 years is still ridiculous. Consider that you'll be 50 years *dead* by then. 90% of copyrighted material sees no use after *1* year.
Please consider using the Founder's copyright:
http://creativecommons.org/projects/founderscopyright/
It is based on the original US copyright system of 14 years + an option to renew later for an additional 14 years. Together, they are far more than what 99.99% of copyrighted material need.
