Hello Everyone,

A relaunch of CC-India is fine if it gets even more traction among many communities intending to
use CC. Joichi Ito had, as many would know, inaugurated CC-India in 2007.

I did attend the day long workshop event at Delhi in February - which was more in the spirit of getting the new partners to come together and deliberate on some course of action. The relaunch was perhaps decided later.

More engagement on CC India is certainly encouraging.

best wishes,
Shishir

Hi Anivar and all,

Great spotting, and yes you're correct - this is technically a "re-launch" of CC in India. Prof Jha, Lawrence Liang and their colleagues have done excellent work in CC outreach and launching a local Indian license suite. As projects change, so do CC teams in many countries from time to time, and they've both been instrumental in encouraging and assisting us with revitalizing, or "re-launching" CC in India with exciting new partners in 2013.

In fact, the community discussion list I've included in this mail is a revived version of the original list so it's a great forum to post any concerns to. We were fortunate enough to run a CC workshop in February 2013 with Wikimedia India in the lead up to this re-launch at IIT under the helpful co-ordination of Professor Jha. At CC HQ, we're heartily looking forward to many more activities and successes with CC India with new partners CIS, Wikimedia India and Univerity of New Delhi.

With regards

Dear Friends,

Wikimedia India in association with Acharya Narendra Dev College New Delhi and Centre for Internet and Society, Bangalore will be hosting the launch of Creative Commons India in New Delhi on 12 November, 2013 with Minister of State for Human Resource Development, Dr. Shashi Tharoor as Chief Guest. It would be really nice if you could join us.

Details of the event can be found here: wiki.wikimedia.in/Events/Creative_Commons_India_launch

AFAIK Creative commons india is launched in January 26 2007 in India in a function at IIT Bombay , with Shishir K. Jha as Project Lead and Lawrence Liang as Legal Lead .CC-2.5-IN series licenses are basically developed by this team .  Even Last year I heard about CC India in this list
http://lists.wikimedia.org/pipermail/wikimediaindia-l/2011-June/003381.html

This is a snapshot of their old website from internet archive

This looks like a relaunch . It will be good if you can explain why it is relaunching in the above mentioned wiki page

~ regards
Anivar
