Hi Alan, and everyone --
Thanks for sharing re: CreateHK. For your background knowledge, we did
NOT lobby HK Film Archive. It was them who approached us first a few
months ago. As you can see from Haggen's minutes, they've been quite
frustrated by the existing copyright system, which is why they want to
talk to us. It's great that they're considering CC as one of the
potential solutions. Our meeting the other day was simply to hear from
them and provide as much info as possible about CCHK.
The meeting was also a good learning experience for us, while being
instrumental in generating some new ideas such as the one re: Film
Development Fund (FDF). We in fact want to do more in this area,
relying on Haggen as the main node of the network as usual. And I'll
draft a follow-up email for this for Pindar and everyone who are
interested. The idea is to apply for funding from FDF to build a CC
platform for short films, at least that's the basic idea. It'll need
much more in-depth discussion and strategizing, probably off this
mailing list that involves everyone. But anyone interested please
email me.
Cheers,
jack
