At home again on my desktop via dialup. Lots of memory.

I found links2 package in /tmp at sdf, and it is indeed downloading very slowly, one letter at a time (or sometimes several at a time). It accesses slashdot and loads text for several minutes without crashing, using xhost and Xvesa 800x600x16 or SVGA (riva) 1280x1024x24 (or it might be 16?), but dillo still crashes at the slashdot link with a message that color is not #RRGGBB. Dillo text loads word at a time, much faster than links, and usable with a bit of patience, except it crashes at every site but dillo itself.

When I exported to the wrong DISPLAY I got the same behavior as at the library when I exported to the eth0 IP number given me by ifconfig.
For some reason rxvt can't find my computer on the network there.

This at least provides a way to look briefly at other browsers even if they are too slow to use, and/or crash.

Would some list member with home broadband please experiment at sdf?
