I packaged the required parts of glibc 2.2.5 (libc, libm, libdl, ld-linux, ldconfig), and three other libraries required by Opera, as http://keesan.freeshell.org/bl/operalib.tgz. Run ldconfig after installing. You also need libICE and libSM (required also by icewm - are they in the BL icewm package?). From xbin.tgz

Opera 9.63 (I checked off Slackware 8, and also tar.gz format) still works with these libraries, but uses about twice the memory of 8.54 (which is probably bugfixes of 8.52).

I followed the instructions on the BL website. Although had a bit of trouble
finding glibc (all the diff files and levels on the Slackware mirror site)
and then the Opera download site must have changed since the instructions
were written, I managed to find everything I needed. Chose to download Opera
8.52 (read somewhere it was a good one) and installed it. Using it now from
inside BL 3.4 qemu version. Working OK so far. Oh, BTW, many thanks for the
qemu versions, they work great with Windows qemu and also I recently found
with linux qemu.
