my aim is to get maybe a better WM running on basiclinux.
Better in what respect? What shortcomings does JWM have?
The icewm package worked well in BL3.4, but I did not install it in BL3.5 because jwm has such a nice menu. jwm works badly with my 84-key keyboard and does not automatically change focus when you open a new window (this version, newer ones do) or let you exit normally without a mouse (Ctrl-Alt-Backspace turns off one of my computers by Aopen). Steven, how difficult would it be to make a BL3.5 icewm package with the same menu setup as jwm? Or even a script to convert, in case people have added programs to jwm menu?
Have you tried the icewm package?
Cheers,
