---------------------
I had set up a computer with BL2, X (SVGA) and icewm. Something got messed up to the point where startx, xinit, all the shared X libraries and the misc fonts.dir were missing. It looks like anything involved in starting X/icewm got trashed/deleted.
I can now load XF86_SVGA but not icewm. It is failing to load four pixmaps (which are there) for icewm with rc=-4 .
I would reinstall icewm but can't find another copy. The BL2 add-ons site is not there.
What files are involved in loading pixmaps?
Would it help to copy all of /usr/X11R6 from a working setup?
Or which part is the likely culprit?
I am using a known-working XF86Config and a known-good video card (worked elsewhere with SVGA server). This computer won't do Xvesa unless I bypass system files, with any card. My partner is tired of booting with a lilo floppy disk. We now have two such computers both with the same problem of not booting X (SVGA server) because he did not tell me there was a problem before I cloned one. Changing video cards did not fix Xvesa nor did changing computers.
BL3 X SVGA works fine with icewm.
