And following in thread.
I telnetted from DOS to BL running inetd/in.telnetd (from tpcip1.tgz - or use utelnetd) as a telnet server. Instructions at this URL. (Same as I do when dialing with DOS and telnetting to my bbs which runs a telnet, over the modem.)
Or connected via the more simple dumb-terminal method (Kermit as terminal program) by uncommenting the s1 line in /etc/inittab as suggested by Steven. (Make sure to change it back if you want to use your serial port later for a mouse).
