Ron,
Regarding your pure-ftpd package.
According to the docs, to set up anonymous FTP, you need a user account,
without a shell, named "ftp".
Does that account need a password? Should it have one? Does it
need a getty running in order for people to access it?
This isn't clear in the docs.
I created the account, without a password, with /bin/true for the
shell.
