Sindi,

Please do not answer to my last mail - I obviously have all modules
I need.

I found another file with modules on your site. It seems to
contain all the missing modules which I will need to burn CDs
with the USB kernel. Then I tested them:

a) I inserted the modules necessary for CD-burning. cdrecord
recognized the CD drive. Then I tried to insert the modules
for USB storage support - they failed to load.

b) I inserted the modules for USB storage - success. Then I added
the modules for CD burning - success. But the device address
of the CD burner is not as it used to be 0,0,0 bus has been shifted
according to the number of USB devices that had been plugged in
before.

In the second constellation I succeeded for the first time in burning
the contents of a flash memory stick directly to a CD. The change of
the device address can probably be detected within a script, as
'cdrecord -scanbus' gives a survey of the current SCSI devices.

This comes already very close to what I primarily intended (only
the mounting of CD-ROM is still missing). But I think, I will have
to do some more testing, and then try this with my 8MB RAM disk.

What I would like to understand is, why test a) failed, eg. why I
have to load the USB modules before doing the scsi emulation for
the CD drive.

Christof
