Can you tell us some information about this modem? E.g. make, model,
FCC ID (usually found on the modem), even type of connection (e.g.
PCI, ISA) can help determine whether this modem will work in
BasicLinux.
If it is built-in, it is probably a Win-modem
(unless it is an old ISA modem -- they are usually
OK). Win-modems are designed for Windows -- they
don't work with BasicLinux (although David, I think,
found a way to get one type of Win-modem to work
with BasicLinux.
Ken Martwick built the BL3.40 package for ltmodems, and this type of
modem does work decently well with BL3.40.
