I found oCADis, which says it needs to be compiled with 'GTK libraries'. Which Slackware package in /gtk1 would this be? oCADIs will import DXF (from our DOS CAD program) and export native format (ASCII-based description of point locations etc.) or PS (for printing with ghostscript or converting to pnm to print with netpbm faster). 564K source code, no libraries of electrical switches, or hatching patterns. Claims to zoom and rotate and add text and support a CalComp digitizer (not the Ultraslate for which we have the linux driver).

I also found a 'little' Engy-CAD, written by a Russian, with its own forum containing two non-authorial comments (someone reported broken source code), that needs five other libraries to be compiled first, all about 500K, for things like scaling fonts.

The DOS program we have been using is about 40K binary including hatching patterns, and can save three formats, and print directly.
