its 'serial terminal linux' redone to hopefully boot on a 386sx (the
original versions wouldnt...) but i dont have a 386sx to test it
with...
We have a 386sx laptop somewhere but I need to wait a week for my partner to get back and find it in his collection of junk.
I think James still has a 386sx to test on.
Our 486 laptop has a dead floppy disk.
to install format a floppy (1.44mb) gunzip the file and use dd or
rawrite to write the image to the disk...
Format to make sure it is 100% good, you mean?
dd if=m-stl-0.4.img of=/dev/fd0
if you are curious its a small linux kernel that boots straight into
minicom... hopefully it works... the default settings are not....
optimal and color doesnt seem to work but you can talk to the modem
with it ;)
On my amber monitor all colors look the same.
mainly i just want to see if it'll boot or not....

How do you dial a bbs without a terminal program, echo atdt1234567 >

'echo -e "ATZ\r ATDT555-5555\r" > /dev/ttyS0' (or S1... wherever your modem
is)
this will (should) reset the modem then tell it to dial.... your guess
is as good as mine as to what the port speed will be set at tho...
(probably 38400)
Adding AT&N16\r before the phone number might set it to 33.6Kbps. (My
manual is for a 28.8k modem). Can I combine AT&F1&N16\r ? But the bbs
runs at 14.4K anyway.
Did not work. Nothing happened, got another prompt.
I tried adding ATH0/r and ATH1/r and still nothing happened.
