hello all, i am still trying to install sound, when i try loading the
soundlow.o module with the insmod command soundlow there's no problem, same
with soundcore.o however when try the sound.o module it gives
define_..smthn(i cant remeber)_buggy error; anyway after readin the sound
HOWTO i was thinkin of recompiling the error but since Steven said that bl3
uses a different install package from slackware 7 i was wondering whether it
wouldnt affect my compilation and if it would i was wondering how i could get
around that problem

I load the modules in a specific order. Perhaps you have the wrong order?
insmod soundcore
insmod soundlow
insmod sound
insmod uart401
insmod sb (with io, irq, dma, and dma16 specified)

(The sb is only for soundblaster cards. For other cards you will need other modules.)

You can use the SW7.1 (2.2.16) bare.i kernel for this, it supports sound.
If that is too large for you, you can use http://keesan.freeshell.org/bl/zimage.sb
which I compiled for soundblaster 16 cards.
Use the SW71 modules (2.2.16).

The 2.2.16 kernels for BL do NOT support sound.

Steven's 2.2.26 kernel was compiled to support sound, and will require the 2.2.26 modules. They are all posted at his add-ons site for BL3.

So you should not need to compile any kernels for sound.
