I have four cards that I tried to use ctcu/ctcm on:
1. CT3600 SB32 with IDE connector.
2. CT3600 AWE32 without IDE connector. It has some additional features to the SB32 (I think the SB32 did not have 512K RAM onboard for loading sound banks into, but both have two 30-pin SIMM slots to use instead).

The first card came set to mpu 300 irq 10 dma 3 dma16 5
The second card came set to mpu300 irq 10 dma 1 dma16 7

I ran them both through ctcu (which lets you change settings, or you can manually edit ctpnp.cfg) and disabled IDE and gameport which kept these from interfering with finding io 220. I also changed them both to irq 5 dma 1,5. The first card keeps reverting back to its original settings, but I think I can reload these again by running ctcm either in autoexec.bat or after booting (first cd to the directory where it and ctcnp.cfg reside). Make sure to run diagnose afterwards to put the correct settings in autoexec.bat (blaster=...) and config.sys (device=.... two lines which refer to the blaster settings again).

The awe32 card retained the new settings that I gave it:
mpu 330 irq 5 dma 1,5.

This computer let me use irq 10 with both cards and sound works, but I do need to run ctcm for it to work.
In autoexec.bat I put
cd \ctcu
ctcm - so it would find the .cfg file.
cd \
BEFORE diagnose.

The two AWE64 cards are set to IRQ9 and even if reset to IRQ 5 (which is not permanent) there is still an IRQ conflict of some sort which I could not resolve. The cards themselves must be grabbing IRQ5 somehow, though hwinfo does not show this.

Awe64 cards come with 4M RAM onboard for loading sound banks. CT4520. They have two inputs as does the awe32. The vibra and the sb32 have 1 input.

All these cards come with 1MB of preloaded sound bank which can be used in DOS (I used the Vibra16 with a program that requires AWE and it worked and sounded better than FM synthesis), so it may not be necessary to load sound banks in linux. What I am missing is a way to initialize AWE.

I will try the Vibra16 in linux with playmidi and if it works, I need to learn isapnp to initialize awe (and find some way to do it in DOS - Win98 DOS box works with these cards too, so Win98 is initializing AWE).
