This question gets asked a lot. Are there any comments on how to
inform newcomers to BL about library differences?

"not found" is always the primary ld library. Quick rundown:

glibc2/libc6 ld-linux.so.2
libc5 ld-linux.so.1
uClibc ld-uClibc.so.0

These are in /lib in 99.9% of all cases. (78% of all statistics are
made up on the fly, including these two)

You need the appropriate ld first, or ldd will just say "not found".
