Have you tried ZGV or other program to display images in BL3 with a
TTL hercules display ?

zgv requires svgalib and Hercules does not support svga or even vga so I have not tried it. I have a couple of DOS viewers that will show gifs in Hercules mode (not very nicely). I forget which ones they are - printgif? I can check if you are interested. Also the Newdeal office suite works with Hercules, including the browser, and jpegs.

I put the few required libraries for svgalib on BL1 and set up links to use seejpeg, and that worked, in greyscale (use the greyscale switch or you will just get 16 shades instead of 256 shades) on a mono VGA monitor. BL3 should work the same. svgalib is not fussy about color depth like Xvesa, and links2 -g also works in fewer colors in SVGAlib than in Xvesa. It can do 8-bit color and I think (not sure) also 4-bit color.

I have my computers set up with both TTL and VGA monitors, using mdacon.o.
mda_first_vc=1 mda_last_vc=2.

First two terminals are TTL, last two VGA. I can see two screens at once unless I use VGA graphics mode. In text mode the computer uses different memory for TTL and VGA text.
