pcnet_cs is the PCMCIA ethernet driver in BL3. Most old
PCMCIA ethernet cards use it. However, it appears that
your Linksys requires a different driver. Do you know
which one?
If we can find out which driver your card requires, we might
find it in the /modules directory of Slackware 7.1. However,
since your card is "brand new", a compatible driver may not
be available.
