- Subject: [BL] Media Player for BL2
- Date: Sat, 20 Mar 2004 09:27:14 +1100
Hi Folks,
Further to my trials of media players for BL2, I can now recommend
QuickView
as a multimedia player for BL2 (doesn't work in BL3 so far).
Originally only for DOS (I have the registered DOS version), it runs
from the
console (or in an xterm under X-windows).
It will play avi, mov, qt, mpeg. Will also display a range of
graphics formats. Still being developed for linux and doesn't yet handle
sound or play mp3s (which it does in DOS).
From the lesson learned from BL3 - i.e. boot a bare DOS - I have at last
got this player to run where it always locked-up before (conflict with
something
in autoexec.bat or config.sys).
Size: 383 kb.
Statically linked - no dependancy probs.
Go to: http://www.multimediaware.com/qv/ and follow the links to
the beta linux version.
Or go directly to: http://linuxvideo.info/
It is a free download for now, but may also expire
after some months when you just go and get a newer version.
Regards,
Ron
