Hi Steven,
finally I read the messages on the list and got Xvesa to run,
after I booted bl3 directly from config.sys. You are right, Xvesa is
a great thing.
The minimalist Window manager is very interesting. I feel very
comfortable with its simple menus, unfortunately there is little
keyboard support.
Next things, I will test:
* mc (the Slackware 7.1 packages, IIRC)
* Czech localization of console (that should be within two
minutes)
* Czech localization of X
There is indeed a great advantage compared with BL1: In order to test
all these things I do not need to create a HD partition. As I have
large parts of Slackware 3.5 and 7.1 on CD-ROM, now, BL3 is a very
convenient test environment: Any time I screw up the system with
different runtime and compile libraries I just delete fs.img, and
start again. No more fdisk mkfs etc.
Christof
