The image is the filename of your kernel. Normally
BasicLinux uses a zimage (unless you substitute another
kernel).

Are you using the lilo package from Slackware 3.5 ?
Or the special lilo package for BL1 ?

image=/boot/zimage
label=BasicLinux
root=current
read-only
------------------
(1) put zimage and boot.b go in /boot
(2) execute "lilo -v"
(3) make the partition bootable (using fdisk)
