Yes I'm think so. That's why I'm asking for help here.

Don't agree with you here. After I sent ATZ (reset modem, all previous inits
are canceled) command to the modem in Windows terminal and then type any of
AT commands the modem response is instant. This tell me that modem is fine
without any initialisation.
Assume something fails in passing of this commands to/from modem under BLinux.
A have message from April's archive
(https://lists.ibiblio.org/sympa/arc/baslinux/2003-April/000352.html) of this
board and one user there already had the same as me problems. Most
interesting here that dalay between sending ATZ command and receiving back OK
was exactly the same as mine = 29 sec. It's always 29 sec.

This is built-in laptop's modem Cirrus Logic 33600 bps PnP v34. It's sitting
on PCI.

The only difference I found between Windows and BLinux configurations are
different IRQs:
Windows IRQ10, BLinux IRQ4 - the same as COM1 but I didn't use it. The memory
range is the same.

Yes. Output was "/dev/ttyS2, UART:16550A, Port:0x03e8, IRQ:4"

Yes I tried this. But both are just dialers and have nothing to do with modem
configuration guess.

No.

I just changed suplied zimage to the bzimage from Slackware 7.1.
More magic. I tried to connect second time in few minutes ( ~10 minutes later
) and have got some starnge logs ( my comments after #):
45:18.490 Send: "atz\r" #start of new connection
45:28.060 Recv: "please call our " #this is a welcome message from my ISP
but from previous session? This is continuing of the previous logon which was
failed 10 minutes ago!
45:38.070 Recv: "please call our
cccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccc"
# too much "c" guess.
45:38.070 Send: "at&d3\r" # initialising of new connection
45:48.080 Recv: "support 5555-4444" #again the rest from the previous. Seems
like it comes from some buffer.
45:58.090 Recv: "support

45:58.091 Send: "atdp000\r" # dialing for the new connection.
This wonder me more. When I tried with chat I had a new log every time. No
mixes like this one from above.

Andrew
