I use a custom installer called 98lite, which has the option off leaving
several useless features out (Help, Win31 legacy-files, Scheduler. Dr. Watson
...) and makes the shell lighter by disabling and disintegrating the
html-Engine in the (File-)Explorer. I can get along with around 165MB for
windows an
run in 20-24 MB of RAM.
But we should discuss this in a windoze mailing list...
