The proposed translation, I believe, is this:

"Better is she who flaunts eyes than a foolishly arrogant walker"

a translation that fully and correctly captures the wisdom of the ancients.

Dear All:

I question about one word here נפשׁ NP$, but it makes a big difference.

טוב מראה עינים מהלך־נפשׁ גם־זה הבל ורעות רוח׃

The LXX translates it as ψυχη but the context and form indicate that this
should be a niphal verb. If so, what would be its meaning? Would it be
related to פושׁ PW$ “to paw out” found in Jeremiah 50:11? Or a verb from the
same root as פשׁ P$ “foolish arrogance” found in Job 35:15?

What do you all think?

How exactly would you translate the entire thing then?
