What language did those who wrote the Lakhish Letters
speak?
What you hear in the modern language is irrelevant here.
But out of curiosity, can't you tell the difference
between 'hem danu' ( they discussed/judged ) and 'anachnu
dannu" (we discussed/judged )? Doesn't a dagesh sneak into
the latter occasionally in normal speech?
