Dear Cheechen,
Chapter One is divided into Four sections:
1:1 Introduction
1:2 Declarative Statement
1:3-11 Life or Created Order Under the Sun (vs 9).
1:12-18 Meaninglessness of Wisdom
The latter two sections could also be the following:
1:3-11 Study of the Created Order
1:12-18 Study of Wisdom
In each case we have the same result: Meaninglessness = Vanity.
Another observation is that "The Preacher" is saying that when looking at the
world: sun, wind, rivers, sea, etc., it looks like the same day in and day
out.
It appears to uniformitarianism. The nothing new under then sun. The same
today
as was in the past. Again, this is what is being observed from "under the
sun."
In fact, it is clear that "under the sun" = "without God." Thus, a
naturalistic
appraisal of the world.
One further thought, "there is nothing new under the sun" indicates that what
we
see today is really nothing new, but a changing of the packaging and ribbon.
