[ISAAC FRIED] - The Hebrew roots GDL, GZL

גדל, גזל

have anything to do do with cutting?

----------------------------------------

[ISHINAN] - Isaac, I don't recall including "gdl" in this discussion. As for
the Hebrew "gzl" (tear, tear away etc.), which is a cognate to C. Ar. "gzl"
(cut off), I suggest you consult: The Brown, Driver-Briggs; Hebrew and
English Lexicon p. 159 # 1497, where it is clearly stated as such.

Take care

Ishinan Ishibashi
