Hi,

Quoting K Randolph <kwrandolph AT gmail.com>:

James:
It looks as if you don’t understand simple English either.

Further your timeline below leaves out a couple of events that impinge on
this discussion:

Between Eden episode and flood there was spreading out of population and
naming of pre-flood geography.

You're reading this into the text Karl. It simply isn't there. At least, not explicitly, at any rate. You are applying circular logic to back up your theory.

So what part of “reuse” do you not understand?

Reuse of what? Places were named for a purpose. The purpose of naming the place Cush was that it was inhabited by the offspring of the family head Cush. You are reading things into the text that simply aren't there. How can you possibly be expected to be taken seriously when you continue to do this? All you are achieving is convincing me that the only thing that matters to you is to prove the theory right and you are willing to interpret *everything* else around this as if it was some kind of fundamental truth. This approach isn't doing you or your theory any favours.

James Christian

P.S. I appreciate that this is a subject that you feel strongly about but please change your tone. Let's try and keep this discussion impersonal and objective so that it can value for anybody who reads the archives.

Please show me how your reuse hypothesis fits into the above timeline.

James:

I just decided not to answer one of your postings in another thread that
you
started because your answer indicates ignorance of Hebrew language and
poetry.

As a group, we have had other discussions where the reuse of names for
new
places and people was an issue, and this is no different. Just because
the
post-flood land of Cush was named after one of Ham’s sons does not rule
out
that this was a reuse of a pre-flood name for a new place. The same with
Assyria.

????????????????????????

Am I going to have to draw a time line?

James Christian

This whole argument is a non-starter.

No it isn't a non-starter.

The land of Cush was named after Cush the son of Ham (he hadn't been
born
yet)

Assyria was named after Asshur the son of Shem (he hadn't been born yet
either)

Please, stop sidestepping the issues and face them head on if you wish
your
theory to be taken seriously at any level.
