Quoting George Athas <George.Athas AT moore.edu.au>:

Jim,

Very long post - more like an article. Please cut it out. Let me remind you AGAIN (!!!) that this forum is not your personal blog. (BTW, have you looked into getting your own blog where you can post this stuff? It really would serve you much better.)

Most of your musings look quite implausible to me. A bit like saying Southern California must be heaven, because "The Town of the Queen of the Angels" (Los Angeles) is there. Once again, your methodology is backward, imposing your own shape onto the evidence, and inferring far-fetched conclusions.

Incidentally, there is no evidence for Amalekites in Galilee, but plenty for the Negev region. And "En" does not mean gateway - it means 'spring' or 'fountain'. Plain and simple.

Depending on what time of the year it is, wouldn't the nature of valleys dictate that opening into had some kind of water source? I only say this because last January I went into Sinai to retrace Moses footsteps and it soon became clear how he chose his root. All the valleys are potential rivers. Just that outside of the rainy season that river is not visible. Because it is under ground. And that's why the trees grow in these valleys. Because their long roots grown under the ground and reach down to the water. And that's how the ancients knew where to dig for a well. Because if there were trees growing, that was were the water was closest to the surface and in greatest quantity.

There is no need to pursue this thread anymore.
