The situation is not quite as simple and clear-cut as this, Jim. The
text-critical data is very complex. To claim that the SP and the LXX have a
single common source is a sweeping oversimplification that, in the end, is
quite misleading and unhelpful. May I recommend that you study up a little on
text criticism. Emmanuel Tov, Ernst Würthwein, or Ellis Brotzman would be
good authors with which to start.
