Hello Dough;

As Karl wrote, the practice in biblical-Hebrew, much like it is in Spanish,
was that where both men and women were present, that the masculine
conjugation of verbs, adjectives, and nouns were used, even it were one
male, and a thousand women, this is primarily because the descendents of
Israel were a patriarchal society verses a matriarchal society, and thus
Hebrew was a patriarchal language.
