Yes, I recognize that waw sometimes goes missing in words normally written
with a waw, so this is not a proof. Just that this particular word is never
elsewhere found without a waw is enough to raise questions. I did not say
"can't".

For me the stronger evidence is the context and syntax, in which the
traditionally understood word divisions make better sense both in meaning
and grammar.
