I was only pointing out to the gentleman who listed all those words and included one which had a different root than all the others with a chet, that's all, and that therefore the basic meaning of KOLEL with a kaf has nothing to do with Chalon, window, for example (unless you want to expand your understanding to that of the Kabbalists', that words that SOUND alike are related. For instance the two words Or with an aleph (light) and Or with an ayin (skin): Just as skin holds the body together, so does G-d's Light hold the entire Creation together, but I don't think anyone wants to go in that direction here on this list) - Shoshanna

"The basic meaning of XALAL is also 'to include, to enclose, to encompass, to comprise, to surround, to generate', except that the enclosed may be here but empty space, as just pointed out by Shoshana Walker. Thus XALON, 'window' is the cavity or the open space definedby the surrounding wall...

Shoshana,

You are right. The only question is what is "different".

No, it's a different letter, and they are different roots, those with

Shoshana,

You are right, but for diversity there is a kaf and there is a xet.
The letter kaf is merely the letter xet turned upon its side. A he is
a xet with a disconnected left leg, a qof is a he with an elongated
leg, and gimel is a cross legged he.

Except that Kolel - the word meaning to include, is spelled with a "kaf",
while the other words you are mentioning are spelled with a "chet"

5. The basic meaning of XALAL is also 'to include, to enclose, to

Walker. Thus XALON, 'window' is the cavity or the open space defined
by the surrounding wall, and such is the XALIL, 'flute', the
cylindrical [GALIL] hollow wind-pipe, and also the MXILAH [actually
MKILAH], 'tunnel', burrowed and included [GLULAH, KLULAH] in the
depth of the earth. XLL in the sense of 'profane' may mean 'devoid or
empty of merit'. Indeed, its opposite QD$, which is but a variant of
GD$, means 'packed solid with supreme value'. XALAL in the sense of
'cadaver', may mean 'rolled or bent over' or 'drained of life'.
Similarly 'MAXALAH', 'illness', may mean a lacuna or an ill
inclusion.
In conclusion: MXOLAL of Isaiah 53:5 is certainly not 'pierced'.

JW:
This reminds me of the KRH "controversy" in 22:17. KRH clearly has a
primary meaning of "dig" in the Jewish Bible and by usage it is
always
shown as a Creative act. Yet some would argue that "pierced" is the
proper Translation even though the Hebrew words that do actually
mean "pierced" usually have a Destructive meaning. There seems to be
some Motivation outside of Translation which is looking for
"pierced".
Why do you think that is Isaac?
