Yitzhak,

Your initial post may have been a little off-topic, but it brought up some
points relevant to Hebrew - that when we study Hebrew we bring to it all
that we are, not just our interest in Hebrew *as a language*; and that there
is still much about Hebrew we do not know. As an anthropologist interested
in conservative Christianity, I found myself deleting a number of posts that
I recognised as interesting, but off-topic before I hit "send" as they dealt
with conservative Christian worldviews and Hebrew rather than Hebrew as a
language. Rolf's religious beliefs are probably very important when it
comes to *how* he approaches language, even if not a topic for this list.
The connection is more likely to be that the writers of the NWT translators
shared this, rather than Rolf setting out to prove their point of view - if
it is indeed the same.

The best thing about these discussions is that it makes us all think - even
if those of us for whom this is a hobby should be thinking of other things
:)
