Subject: Re: [b-hebrew] Psalm 14:7; 53:6/7
Thanks HH - that explains 1 T, the one in Psalm 53 if, as you say, it is
plural. Could be an intensive plural, I suppose...
What do you mean as "intensive plural"?
Why is the last letter a T in Psalm 14? I can't (as usual) find the word in
the Lexicons :)
The final T is nothing else than the normal final H of this word: when the word becomes construct, H becomes T. This is clearly explained in grammars.
For instance:
NAX:ALFH, possession (Nm 18:23)
becomes NAX:ALAT B:N"Y R:)W.B"N, the possession of the sons of Reuben (Js 13:23)
This means that:
1. As we face a word ending in T, we can of course seek in the Lexicon this way, with a final T.
There are many, many words that end in T...
2. If there is none such word with a final T... then we'll seek the same thing but with the ending H.
Another example:
Look at Job 1:2 ---- $IB:(FH, seven <> Job 1:3 --- $IB:(AT, seven, 7 thousand heads of sheep
I think this is quite clear, isn't it?
