I agree -- Mishkal is very useful for understanding nouns and their
inflections. It's has helped me in my research on kamatz katan in biblical
words.

Yes, it's worthwhile. It makes it easier to recognize the verbal root

behind derivative nouns. It helps in recognizing the formation pattern

of nouns in general. It is part of normal second year Hebrew study.
