"mishqalim", hebrew noun sound patterns, are supposedly helpful in decoding nouns from their roots. Any opinions as to whether studying this approach is worthwhile would be appreciated. Does anyone know of an in-print, English language text on this subject?
Yes, it's worthwhile. It makes it easier to recognize the verbal root behind derivative nouns. It helps in recognizing the formation pattern of nouns in general. It is part of normal second year Hebrew study.
