what would you understand?


There's a difference between referring to a nation/tribe as "the sons of...", which is very common in the Semitic world to this day, and using "sons/daughters" to reffer to individuals who are not just s/d's, but also grand-s/d's and s/d's-in-law. Beasides, as both Shoshanna and I have requested, cite a concrete example!
