The Bible and Archaeology: Current State of Research and Debate
Thursday, February 9, 5-7 PM, Perlman Honors Commons

In this two-hour seminar, the participants will be introduced to the
most current state of biblical research, with a special attention
focused on the intersection of biblical texts and archaeology.
Organized as an informal discussion of the book by a leading Israeli
archaeologist I. Finkelstein "The Bible Unearthed," the copies of which
will be provided to the seminar participants, the seminar will address
the three most vocal schools of thought contributing to the debate.

Vadim Jigoulov, a PhD Candidate at the Department of Near Eastern
Studies, will be facilitating the seminar, the second part of which
will be dedicated to an alternative interpretative model he will be
proposing in his dissertation on Persian-period Phoenicia. Seating is
limited, so if you want to attend, please contact Honors Associate
Director Liina Wallin at lmwallin AT umich.edu in order to reserve your
place.
