At Gen 30:3 Plaut makes no specific comment on the verb `ibaneh.

Speiser, comment: ``For the pertinent verb `ibbane cf xvi 2, in a closely
related context (J); both passages stem undoubtedly from
the same author.''

So both Alter and Speiser think its a pun. Speiser accepts the
documentary hypothesis and assigns both the Gen 16 and Gen 30
usages to J hence his comment about being from the same author.
