And you think that accusing someone who doesn't accept your personal view
of scripture "is clearly operating out of a naturalistic world-view" is
not inflamatory? I was once a Bible-thumping fundamentalist myself until
I realized that such a view of inspiration is untenable so I am well
aware of your code words. You might as well accuse me of being a godless
atheist. That I don't accept your view of inspiration in no way makes me
a "naturalist" and I have no particular appreciation for your doing so.
Your view makes one deny facts and jump through all kinds of hoops in
order to maintain your position. Because the ruins of cities do not
support your position you are forced to continually maintain that we
cannot have found the cities referenced in the Bible and many similar
situations. I thought we were supposed to be discussing the Hebrew
language as it is represented in the TANAK, but it seems that this has
become a forum for systematic theology -- and only fundamentalists need
respond.

Peter:

I just noticed something. While checking up some other settings on my brows=
er, I noticed that I had set the language encoding to =93Hebrew (windows)=
=94. When I set the language encoding to UTF-8, Hebrew written in Windows-1=
255 encoding is displayed=20

????

instead of=20

אבגד

Now does the second line still show אבג&#=
1491; or does it show Hebrew letters?

Hebrew encoded as character entities Camino rendered as Hebrew letters, bot=
h when encoded as Hebrew (windows) and as UTF-8.

An example of character entities follows:

אבגד

How does that render in your browser or mail program?

What I noticed is that when you encoded Hebrew as character entities, somew=
here between your screen and the B-Hebrew archives, the coding was changed =
from character entities to string encoding. I don=92t know where the change=
came from, but it is clearly recognizable when looking at the page source.=
What you wrote as Windows-1255 encoding is stored on the B-Hebrew archives=
as character entities. What are your settings?

Karl W. Randolph.
