Precisely. If these students are using Windows 2000 or XP with Word 2000 or later, they don't need any special fonts, but only a suitable keyboard driver. Unfortunately the only Hebrew keyboard which comes with Windows is based on the Israeli layout, which is unhelpful for those with other labels on their keys. But Keyman offers an alternative keyboard based on transliteration.

There is an XP keyboard driver for US-Keyboard layout at http://www.geocities.com/fontboard/hebrew.html
It is very good, and has a phonetical type of layout even for the nikkudot.

However, the students will need special fonts, rather than the Microsoft standard ones, if they want good results with pointed Hebrew. Pointed Hebrew is legible in Times New Roman, Arial etc, but the point holam is wrongly positioned. So it makes a lot of sense to use SBL Hebrew as recommended by Yitzhak, which comes with its own keyboarding solutions.

In fact a special keyboard is not necessary for including just a few words of Hebrew. These can be inserted from the Word Insert Symbol dialog, with no special software required.
