In Arabic it is the causative verbal form (Binyan) )f(l , Afal, with
Alif in the perfect tense where Heb. has the He, that serves ther function of
the Hiiphil.

Dhorme opens his comments on Job 38:12 with the statement that the LXX (OG)
h epi sou does not represent hmmk rather than hmymyk. Just for the sake of
exploration lets assume Dhorme is wrong. What sense could be made of this
text if hmmk is read?

The expression epi sou is used in the LXX as an adverbial of location to
indicate "in personal presence of someone" which would suggest in this
passage something like "Was it in your presence that I appointed the morning
light ... " or more idiomatically "Were you around when ... " and so forth.

But setting the LXX asside, how would reading hmmk impact the understanding
of Job 38:12?

greetings,
Clay Bartholomew
