FellasAny Windows-based PC built in the last 10 years should be able to handle Windows 98 and Internet Explorer 5. That is all you need to read Unicode Hebrew correctly, and includes the Outlook Express mail client which supports Unicode. With this setup, unless you have the Middle Eastern version, you have no easy way of typing Unicode Hebrew - for that you really need Windows 2000 or XP and a slightly more powerful computer.
Perhaps why some people are hesitant to download such software is that they
are not sure that their p.c.'s can handle the technology required for its use.
I accept that things are a little more difficult for the Mac. Properly updated and configured Linux systems should have no trouble displaying Hebrew.
But the real problems are for the few list members who are stuck with working from old mainframe systems which only support ASCII text. Also those who insist on using dinosaur mail clients like Eudora which continue to make no attempt to support Unicode.
