Hi All
The name of the city prior to the Hyksos' founding of Avaris ("Camp
Refugee") was Rowarty ("Door of the Two Ways"). The successive cities
Rowarty - Avaris - Pi-Ramesses were not built on top of each other. Rather
they were almost next to each other (like overlapping suburbs). The map I
have goes something like this - with the dashes and slashes being the
Pelusiac branches of the Nile. (View with fixed width font, and not with
HTML browser as it will stripe out the spaces)
