re: dating the bible:

an interesting convergence with the archaeological books just mentioned:
corpus-based linguistic analysis of the biblical texts suggests the same
relative chronologies. the monograph is in progress, but two published
proof-of-concepts are available: both are also available in my papers
directory at http://www.chass.utoronto.ca/~decaen/papers/ (the minimalism
paper, and the JNWS paper on nunation).

i suggested the exodus narrative was composed ca. 500, for what it's
worth....
