Did anyone mention Jer. 32:10 yet? It proves that he could at least sign his
name. It seems unlikely that he could not read, though one cannot, of
course, gauge his proficiency. Hope this helps,

This would seem to be a strange argument. Jeremiah's ministry started in the
thirteenth year of Josiah (Jer 1:2) and so would have been going for only
five years when the book of the law was found (2Ki 22:3); so by this time he
was still young and not necessarily a prominent figure. And he was never a
royal favourite. There were doubtless many people in Jerusalem who could
read, some better than others. That Hilkiah and others (not Josiah himself -
2Ki 22:14) sought out Huldah, perhaps because she could read especially well
but perhaps for totally different reasons, is absolutely no grounds for
arguing that Jeremiah couldn't read.
