But here there is no problem, as there is no meteg
at all.
My BHS shows a metheg in Gen 2:7 under the waw of wayehi.
Edition:
Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia
Gedruckt mit Unterstuetzung der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft
(c) 1967/77 Deutsche Bibelgesellschaft Stuttgart
So does my BHL
Biblia Hebraics Leningradensia
ed by Aron Dotan
(c) 2001 Hendrickson Publishers, Inc.
First printing -- April 2001
So does the all-Hebrew large-letter Humash I use which has no date but the copyright is "xbrt b.b. hwc'h l'wr whpch"
The metheg is there in the Conservative Movement's new "Etz Hayim" (c) 2001 with "Hebrew text, based on Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia, (c) 1999 by The Jewish Publication Society"
However, the "Tiqqun qor'im hamefu'ar 'Simanim'" (c) 5757 does NOT show a metheg AND uses the form of shewa which indicates shewa nah (i.e. silent shewa).
Similarly, there is no metheg there in my Miqra'oth Gedoloth haMale', (c) xbrt 'xzqwt wyln' (no date)

Does anyone really understand this passage in Gesenius (GKC 16g)?:
"The grave Metheg ... is especially employed in the following cases in order more distinctly to emphasize a short vowel or an initial shewa: (a) with the Pathah of the article or of the prefixes b, k, l, when followed by shewa under a consonant without Dagesh, e.g. hamesilla, lamesilla, &c., but not before [yod][shewa] (before which [waw][patah] also remains without Metheg, with the exception of wayehi [waw][pathah][metheg][yod][shewa][heh][hiriq][yod] and wayexi, when they are followed by Maqqeph, or accented with Pashta), ...."
